The Most Annoying Person in the World

#MicroblogMondays February 8th, 2016 – Who is the most annoying person in the world? The one who knows he’s wrong but keeps arguing.

Who is the most annoying person in the world? The one who knows s/he’s wrong but continues to argue, apparently for pride.

A few days ago, someone on a food group I follow posted this old dead joke – “Those who eat masala dosa with knife and fork should drink sambhar with a straw.” It’d been doing the rounds for months and it was stupid. A lot of people commented on it negatively, and I did as well, with “Copied joke. And why would you care? Eyes on your own plate, buddy.” The latter point had been raised by others as well, because this is a great group of food content creators.

This person decided to ignore the latter part and seemingly took offense to the ‘copied-joke’ bit, calling me out on my sense of humour and insisting that his joke was his own. He took the very low-market, very typical, and unoriginal route of in-your-face sarcasm that defeats the purpose of sarcasm.

I did a quick google search and posted two images in response of the tired old meme, predated to his post. He replies, without any semblance of punctuation or grammar,  “thank u for showing me who copied from me..”

And I blocked him.

Why did it bother me so much? Well, to me, it was a notion of unfairness. Here’s a person, not even using their own name or a picture of themselves, essentially an anonymous troll, being called out with proof that they’re wrong. I’ve seen this with a lot of people who contribute nothing fresh or original to the world, only leeching off someone else’s material. These are the same people who demand respect as if they’re entitled to it. To me, someone like that is the most annoying person in the world.

To me, it was an unfair conclusion to an argument. I didn’t receive my reward for my effort. Now maybe, I should chill out – it’s just a stupid little thing, except I strongly believe in fair outcome for input given.

Or perhaps I’m irked by the fact that someone else has this obstinate confidence that I cannot muster without objective correctness. What do you think?
